Gillette, William Sherlock Holmes: A Play Garden City, NY Doubleday, Doran & Company, Inc. 1935 First Edition Hardcover Illustrated by Steele, Frederic Dorr 191pp. Red cloth stamped in black on the spine panel, top edge stained red. Light discoloration to upper edge of front cover, spine ends frayed, spine panel faded, paper clip indentations to the upper edge of the first few pages, rear endpapers age-toned. A very good- copy. Signed by William Gillette on the frontispiece under his portrait. Comes with a picture of the previous owner of the book (whose name is neatly penned on the front free endpaper) and Mr. Gillette taken at the Seventh Sister, Gillette's castle in Connecticut, in the summer of 1935. Also included is a halfpenny Book Post Card of the actor from the early 1900s and a newspaper article clipping of the castle being sold at auction. Introduction by Vincent Starrett, Reminiscent Notes and illustrations by Frederic Dorr Steele. ; Octavo; Signed by Author Price:
