xv, 579pp + errata. Original rust cloth stamped in blind and gold on the front panel and lettered and decorated in gold on the spine panel, brown endpapers. Frontispiece and three engraved portraits, five foldout maps in pockets, five maps in the book (two of which are foldout). Includes, among other things, many journals of officers which, in addition to detailed military activities, give precious insights into Indian culture. A few small spots to cloth, three short tears to spine, old dampstain affecting the base of the spine and the lower edge of the first four leaves. Internally very clean with some sporadic foxing. The large map has a short closed tear at fold. About very good. ; Octavo.
