Glamorous early 20th Century sterling silver checkered pattern cigarette or card box with gilt engraved interior manufactured by the Newburyport Silver Company. The company was founded in Newburyport, Mass, in 1902 and moved production to Keene, New Hampshire, in 1904. It was active until 1915. The case measures 6.5 x 8.5 cm x 8.8 mm thick, and weighs 65 grams (roughly 2.2 oz). The latch, spring opening and spring loaded cigarette holder all work correctly. The case shows a few minor scratches and scuffs and is in nice condition. Comes in an umarked contemporary striped silk box that fits it perfectly and shows mild wear.
