The second of the apocryphal editions printed in Baltimore, both reissues of the 1809 edition published in Philadelphia by Lester. xi, [i], [13]-266pp with several pagination errors, two blanks at the end. Contemporary full tree calf with black label lettered in gold on the spine. Two engraved frontispieces of Clark and Lewis, and three inserted plates (The Bear Pursueing Its Assailant, An Indian Destined to Death, View on the Washita). Several owners' names on front and rear free endpapers and front pastedown endpaper, the earliest of which is dated 1824. Text block is toned. Chip to spine head, wear to covers and extremities. "This is the last of the so-called 'Counterfeit Editions.' Some copies carry two portraits and four plates.'", Graff 1331. Howes F153a (mentions copies with three or four plates).
