New York: [s.n.], 1856. First Edition. Hardcover. Item #41330

180pp. Brown cloth stamped in blind on the sides, gilt lettering on the spine panel. Signed and inscribed by William Ross Wallace: "To Benjamin Denton, / with the respects / of one who knows / his great worth - / William Ross Wallace / N. Y. 1857." A collection of prose and verse on death, mourning, remembrance, epitaphs, and cemetery culture. Includes an early historical and descriptive sketch of Cypress Hills Cemetery, established on the Brooklyn-Queens border just eight years prior in 1848. Cloth is faded, especially on the spine. Light wear to extremities, sporadic foxing, short pencil inscription on last page. Very good. Scarce in general, even more so with a nice presentation from the author. ; Octavo; Signed by Author.
